But my generals in a slavery of the images of military magazines, and order for them - uniformity. If I'll give them a will to put in order the holy books, in which revealed the Lord wisdom, they will start with the letters, because even for child it is clear that they are mixed up ... In one place they will collect all the "A", then all the "B", then all "C", and the book will finally be regulated. A special book for the generals
Antoine de Saint-Exupery 'Citadelle'
In general, I did not expect to write on this subject, but after spending a month living at combating 'windmills' of SEO, decided to share information on the latest tools and some, perhaps unexpected conclusions.
Frankly, after reading in the multiple sources that content is on the first place to the modern search engines, I did not pay attention to the keywords and for some time did not use them on my website. Publishing, among others, quite rare original materials containing more than 600 images and detail descriptions of the various embodiments of software GUI for Blood and plasma Centers, I was thinking that the content is interesting to the reader, and search engines, endowed with a remarkable Artificial Intelligence, will take care of expressions and words frequency in the articles by itself. After all, in fact only the content must be taken into account, since it is primary. Otherwise, the situation with the search may recall an old anecdote, where Misha exactly plays the role of a keyword or meta descriptions:
- I do not like how Celentano sings!
- Did you hear his singing?
- No, but Misha sang ...
In general, progress in promoting the website was not observed, and I reorganized its structure. Among other minor changes I had to refuse a simple way of Categorie's Menu describing, because CMS renderer was creating many links to non-existent double pages. Also, URL-s got more meaningful, which immediately led to a lot of errors 404 and my '.htaccess' significantly increased through the implementation of appropriate redirects 301. Based on the information, which can be found on the Internet, this kind of redirect is not really affect the SEO , but still:
- try to define clear the website's structure and presentations on it at the very beginning, and never change it
There is a saying: 'the best is the enemy of good'. For me in this case, its resulted in the rule:
- it is better not to use keywords at all, rather that apply them incorrectly!
So, I 'walked' the website again, adding appropriate meta descriptions and keywords in all elements. But, assuming that the keywords in conjunction with meta descriptions serve as secondary condensed support of content in terms of explaining the article meaning, I described them placing myself in the place of man who wants to find the required information. It is clear that with such an approach, in the keyword list may appear some, that are completely absent in the text of the article, and it can also lead to a drop in rankings. As a result, the situation with the website's 'visibility' had further deteriorated and time to get acquainted with the special tools came up.
First, I consider it necessary to mention Screaming Frog SEO Spider, which is, by my opinion, in the category of 'must have':
This is extremely useful multiplatform tool, which free version allows to discover the various duplicates, create a site map, reports about the problems in a different formats, and more. Free version is limited to processing of 500 URLs, which is quite acceptable for small websites. However, Screaming Frog is not designed for heavy work with keywords.
Therefore, for those who looking for strong support in this respect (and not only), I suggest to try WebSite Auditor, a picture of which I placed at the beginning of this article. This multiplatform instument at the current moment seems to me as the most advanced, full-featured and friendly among of all that have tried. Free version is also limited to 500 links, but functions, tips and important advice that it provides, hard to overestimate.
I also want to recommend OnPage:
This is a very solid online SEO Tool, which has no limit on the number of links to process even in the free version. The only limitation in this case is the possible number of requests for a full scan of your website within a month.
Search Engine Optimization by reverse
The primary step in the article writing common practice is to draw up the so-called competitive capable semantic core, which words and phrases are strictly distributed to the different headings and text. You can also find dictionaries of phrases for titles for all occasions, which helps to create first compelling impressions of your content. Honestly, I can't get to write something meaningful, constantly limiting myself with the amount of repetitions, or vice versa, forcing a necessary repetition of the required phrases, specified number of times. Secondly, this approach is unlikely to survive for a long time, and one of the reasons for its extinction, I will show at the end of this article.
But because quite a lot of information already accumulated on the website, it was necessary to search for keywords and phrases in existing texts. So, here is a tools I used for this purpose:
Note: further addons were installed in the Chrome browser
In addition to other useful SEO information, it allows you to scan a document with the purpose of obtaining lists of groups of up to 4 keywords:
At the same time, further information is given about the number of repetitions of each phrase. Therefore, we exclude an error of possible inclusion of keyword phrases, that is absent in the text. Now, it is desirable to determine the frequency of searches of selected words on the Internet.
This is a very fast and easy to use tool, helpful to make the final selection of keywords:
As can be seen from the figure, the information includes the number of requests for each given word and CPC (Cost-Per-Click), which, in turn, is the basic information for AdWords to calculate bids:
In addition, the use of Keyword Keg very convenient in conjunction with Übersuggest, which helps to choose the group of phrases for topics of interest, that are not available in the Google Keyword Planner:
Looks like a time to conclude an article and wait for the result of these Herculean efforts. But I want to add a few words about one of the latest trends in the field of Artificial Intelligence. We know that robots already 'composing music', soon will create a software and computer hardware. Well, now it's time to 'raise hand against our dear Shakespeare' (the phrase of amateur theater head in the Soviet film "Beware of the Car").
You actually read what you write?
Thus begins a short anecdote about the author, who brought his next 'masterpiece' to publishing company. His answer to this question is the same delightful:
- What for? I'm not a reader. I'm Author!..
Based on predefined keywords, the software ArticleForge in 30 seconds automatically generates a unique article with guaranteed high quality SEO. At the same time, it is possible to assign the automatic generation of up to 1000 articles, which will have a unique variation on the theme of the set of given keywords to achieve the said guaranteed SEO quality. For Artificial Intelligence it looks more complicated than direct semantic analysis of the text, which I mentioned above.
Associative picture on this subject
Several competing organizations 'fight' to the last cent by this awesome weapon for the rank of their websites, but do not have time to read and comprehend a giant stream of automatically generated combinations of words and letters, leaving it pleasure to readers. To enhance the effect, they includes automatic distribution of these documents to all known e-mail addresses. Pushed to the extreme excitement recipients activate own protective automated means ...
Among the ways of writing catchy articles, there AIDA technology designed to create compelling materials engages the reader. This abbreviation is deciphered as follows and it is necessary also write text in that order, to push 'target' to:
I certainly understand the reason, which leading people to use these psychological tricks. Let's take a look to the same purpose recomendation, present at the very first picture of this article, concerning just about 7 pages long article. This time the web-spiders is a target, but finally it is intended for human again:
- hl7 should be repeated 112 time(s)
Now consider the next list of books:
- 'Forsyte Saga' by John Galsworthy - about 1500 pages
- 'The eyes of the eternal brother' by Stefan Zweig - about 25 pages
What kind of keywords and the frequency of their repetition will reflect equal contribution of these great novels to the culture of humanity?
